The Malossi crankshaft for the 100 cc cylinder is primarily composed of two half-shafts forged from special steel, machined on high-precision CNC tools, and then subjected to a thermochemical treatment involving carburizing, hardening, and cryogenic cooling in nitrogen. This process gives the halfshafts exceptional hardness and strength, essential for supporting the high power output generated by the 100 cc cylinder.

DESCRIPTION

The Malossi crankshaft for the 100 cc cylinder consists mainly of two forged half-shafts made of special steel, machined on high-precision CNC machine tools and then subjected to a thermochemical treatment of case hardening, quenching and sub-zero cooling in nitrogen. This process gives the half-shafts exceptional hardness and strength, essential to withstand the high power generated by the 100 cc cylinder.

The crankshaft balancing has been designed and engineered to optimize the performance of high-power engines, and allows for dynamics up to 16,000 rpm. This balancing allows for smooth and consistent operation even at stratospheric speeds, making the Malossi crankshaft ideal for racing use at the highest level.

The needle roller cages, mounted on the crankshaft coupling shaft, are made with rollers with a special anti-torsion profile, selected with tolerances of a few thousandths of a millimeter. The cage, made of silver-plated steel, acts as a lubricating and anti-wear element, to guarantee optimal performance, even in reduced lubrication conditions.
