INTAKE LEAKAGE TEST FOR 2-STROKE ENGINE STAGE6

With this handy leak test kit, you will be able to check if your 2-stroke engine is properly sealed.

This tool is a must-have in any workshop. Once you've assembled the engine, you can use this kit to check if the engine block has been properly sealed and is airtight. A perfectly sealed engine block ensures maximum performance and precise carburetor adjustment. This avoids the hassle of having to disassemble the engine block after assembly in case of a possible leak. If you want to be sure you're leaving nothing to chance, this tool is a wise choice!

CONTENTS OF THE STAGE 6 INTAKE SEALING KIT:

Intake manifold connecting parts are available in almost all carburetor sizes available on the market:

  • 1x Intake cap: 25 mm,
  • 1x Intake cap: 28 mm,
  • 1x Intake cap: 35 mm,
  • 1x Intake cap: 39 mm,
  • 1x Rubber sealing plate,
  • 4x Valves.

HOW TO USE STAGE6 INTAKE PLUGS:

To ensure a tight exhaust seal, it is recommended to fit the supplied rubber plate between the exhaust flange and the cylinder. This plate can be cut to size as required, depending on the type of exhaust used. Please note that it is designed specifically for screw-on exhaust flanges. For Minarelli AM6 or Moped exhaust flanges, the use of a exhaust plug is recommended.

Next, you need to fit the orange intake plugs of the appropriate size into your intake manifold. Once this is done, you can pressurize the engine using the valve. It is best to use a hand pump or, with caution, a compressor. Recommended air pressure is between 0.5 and 0.8 bar . It should be noted that excessive pressure may blow out the intake plugs or your oil seals!

Once the pressure is applied, it is necessary to measure whether it decreases using a pressure gauge, whether it's the one on the air pump or a tire inflation gun. If no pressure drop is observed within one minute, this means that the engine crankcase is perfectly sealed. To detect possible leaks, simply apply a little soapy water and observe the formation of bubbles.

As for the spark plug hole, it can be sealed using a conventional spark plug, a pressure gauge or the Stage6 spark plug filler.

HOW TO USE THE STAGE6 INTAKE PLUGS:

To ensure the exhaust seal, it is recommended to mount the supplied rubber plate between the exhaust flange and the cylinder. This plate can be cut to size as needed, depending on the type of exhaust used. Please note that it is designed specifically for screw-on exhaust flanges. For Minarelli AM6 or Mobylette exhaust flanges, the use of an exhaust plug is recommended.

It is then necessary to mount the orange intake plugs corresponding to the appropriate size in your intake pipe. Once this is done, it is possible to pressurize the engine using the valve. It is best to use a hand pump or, with caution, a compressor. A recommended air pressure is between 0.5 and 0.8 bar. It should be noted that excessive pressure risks spelling the intake plugs or your oil seals!

Once the pressure is applied, it is necessary to measure whether it decreases using a pressure gauge, either the one on the air pump or the one on a tire inflation gun. If no pressure drop is observed within a minute, this means that the engine crankcase is perfectly sealed. To detect possible leaks, simply apply a little soapy water and observe the formation of bubbles.

As for the spark plug hole, it can be sealed using a classic spark plug, a pressure gauge or the Stage6 spark plug sealer.
